Mike Hamilton
Born in Fort Hood TX. To a father who was in the
military, Hamilton spent much of his childhood growing up in different
parts of the world, in places as far as Germany to as close as Georgia.
As soon as he began studying saxophone, which his father chose for him
he has never parted from making music his life. Even as early as grade
school, he was consistently voted the Most Promising Music Student. He graduated from Berklee College of Music on a full four-year scholarship in 1995 and quickly swept up awards such as the Outstanding Achievement Award in Instrumental Performance.
In addition to the saxophone, Hamilton also produces,
plays keys, bass, drums and has been a vocalists for the multi-platinum
artists Savage Garden and Coolio. Mike has now recorded Three solo CD's
and his music has been described as; "a skillful combination of rhythm
& blues, pop, funk and contemporary jazz..." by Kenneth Yarbough of
Boston's WUMB-FM. Hamilton was a part of the house band for the Viacom network late night show "Live from LA" and has been interviewed on Boston Mosaic, the BET show "Jazz Scene" as well as featured interviews on the show "Live from L.A.". Hamilton has been featured at the Boston Globe Jazz festival and the Santa Barbara Jazz festival as well as writing scores as diverse as music for Hollywood theater, to music for health carecommercials and children's daycare centers.
Mike has appeared with such artists as: James Brown, Tyrese,Isaac Hayes, Joe, Ronnie Jordan, Dave Hollister, Carl Thomas, Jonathan Butler, Phil Perry, Avante and Sparkle. Hamilton performed to standing room only audiences on his Brazil tour and is currently performing in churches around the world with his new CD "God's Will". Mike currently resides in Texas where he writes and produces music for Film, Television, recording artists and continues to teach for Berklee College of Music on-line.
